Installation
Bamboo flooring, when properly installed, is a beautiful durable floor –covering material.
It is installed in manner similar to that used to other types of solid hardwood flooring. Before installation, the installer must be sure that the sub-floor is solid, level, clean and dry.
Prefinished solid strip bamboo flooring is best applied by nailing, stapling, or gluing planks to a wood subfloor. Gluing directly to a concrete stab may be done at or above grade. The installer must be careful to protect the flooring material from moisture before, during and after installation of the product.
The bamboo should be delivered to the job-site at least three (3) days before installation for acclimation, opening the boxes and the bamboo laid out in the room to be installed.
Wood sub-flooring surfaces must be clean, dry and if gluing the flooring, free from contaminants that would interfere with an adhesive bond. The underlayment nailing surface must be level andsmooth prior to installation of flooring.
Concrete sub-floors must be tested for moisture and a vapor barrier or retarder such as 6 mil polyethylene film should be placed in crawl spaces. This barrier will minimize the effect of moisture evaporating into the crawl space environmental that can migrate from the sub-floor and into the bamboo flooring.
If the glue down application is the method chosen, DECO BAMBOO recommends using and provides a premium wood flooring adhesive, like BOSTIK and its lines of products.
